Judging from the current solar cell efficiency, the current 24.1% laboratory conversion efficiency is close to the theoretical limit efficiency of 24.5% of PERC solar cells. The focus of solar cell manufacturers’ research and development has gradually shifted to new technologies. PERC technology has officially entered the post-transformation cycle. , HJT, IBC and other technology trial production lines and mass production line layout, promote the efficiency of N-type solar cell laboratory to exceed 25%.

The gap between the conversion rate of N-type solar cells and PERC has begun to widen. Judging from the latest progress announced by the company, the HJT maximum mass production conversion efficiency of N-type solar cells has reached 25%, the maximum mass production conversion efficiency of TOPCon is 24.5%, and the current PERC maximum mass production conversion efficiency is 23.5% . In addition, N-type solar cells have received strong capital investment from companies in 2020-2021, and large-scale new mass production of TOPCon solar cells is about to be completed. Many companies’ heterojunction pilot lines are progressing smoothly, and they are beginning to move towards GW level.

The mass production efficiency of the industry’s N-type solar cell technology is still in the stage of continuous climbing and debugging, and the efficiency stability needs to be improved. However, it can be seen that the HBC and laminated solar cell technology based on the N-type substrate are also in the laboratory research and development stage, and there will be room for further improvement in solar cell conversion efficiency.
